Add your first bill

A 60-second guide to the New bill button.

In short

Click + New bill in the top bar. Name, amount, due day, recurrence. Pick a currency and category. Done — your dashboard now tracks it.

Where to click

The + New bill button lives in the top bar of every page. There's no separate "create" screen — HomeWeal opens a modal so you don't lose your place.

The four fields that matter

  1. Name — what you call this bill (Rent, Comcast, Spotify).
  2. Amount — fixed or variable. Variable bills don't lock you in — you enter the actual amount when you pay.
  3. Due day — the day of the month it's due (1-31). For weekly/biweekly bills, switch the cadence first.
  4. Recurrence — monthly is default. Weekly, biweekly, quarterly, and yearly are all supported.
You can leave Amount blank for now and fill it in when you log the first payment. Useful for utility bills you don't want to fake-anchor.

Picking a category

Categories drive the breakdown on Reports and Insights. They're fixed (housing, utilities, telecom, insurance, loans, subscriptions, education, groceries, transport, other) so analytics stay coherent. If your bill doesn't fit, use "other" — better than mis-classifying.

Per-bill currency

On Pro and Family, each bill carries its own currency. Pay rent in EUR, internet in USD, phone in MXN — HomeWeal rolls everything up to your home currency on the dashboard using daily-refreshed FX rates.
