An unpaid variable bill shows its reference amount with an "est." marker, and the drawer's button reads Confirm amount instead of Log payment. Confirming logs the real figure for the month.
Why estimates
A variable bill's amount isn't known until the statement arrives. HomeWeal shows the bill's reference amount marked "est." so totals like Expected and the 90-day forecast have something to work with — without pretending the figure is settled.
Confirming the amount
Open the bill (Bills, Calendar, or Dashboard) → the detail drawer.
The footer button reads Confirm amount on an unpaid variable bill.
Type the actual amount from your statement.
Log it — the estimate is replaced everywhere by the real figure.
Confirmed amounts feed back into future estimates: the drawer shows your recent average for the bill, and the forecast uses recent variable payments to project next month.
