Link a loan to its payment bill
In short
When adding an installment loan, link its existing monthly bill or create one. Record payments on the bill and confirm the remaining lender balance separately.
Before you start
Loan-bill linking is available to the household owner or co-owner on eligible Pro or Family access. Have the lender balance, its statement date, APR and required payment ready. Look for an existing payment bill before creating another. Only active, unarchived monthly bills in the loan’s currency appear in the existing-bill list.
Choose the loan bill
- Open Debts, select New debt and choose Installment loan.
- Choose Link an existing monthly bill and select the bill, or choose Add a monthly payment bill if it is not already tracked.
- Enter the loan terms and Lender balance as of date. Check the bill’s currency, payment amount and due date.
- Save and inspect the linked bill and debt. Record payments on the bill with the correct period and payment date.
Keep the balance current
Logging a bill payment does not automatically reduce lender principal by that payment amount. Interest, fees and timing can differ. Update the lender balance from a new statement and review any stale-balance warning before relying on payoff projections.
